TWO ! ! ! BRITISH OIL TANKER (S) SEIZED BY IRAN - IRGC Grabs SECOND Tanker within hours! UPDATE 3:59 PM, IRAN GRABBING TWO MORE TANKERS ?!?!?!

A British Oil Tanker   UPDATE 3:02 PM EDT --     NOW TWO British Oil Tankers have been seized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Persian Gulf.  This is confirmed!   UPDATE 3:59  PM EDT -- IRAN POSSIBLY GRABBING THIRD AND FOURTH OIL TANKERS . . . .

Updates to follow . . .

Maritime Radar monitoring services show the tanker veered suddenly off course and away from its intended destination, signalling something dramatic had taken place . . .

This comes after the British government confirmed that the Iranian oil tanker seized by Britain a couple weeks ago, has now been ordered DETAINED for another 30 days.

British/UK Ministry of Defense are aware of the tanker's movement towards Iran but are unable to comment at this time.

Registration ifo for this vessel is as follows:

Owner: Stena Bulk XIII Cyprus Limited

Lloyds Register Operator: NORTHERN MARINE MANAGEMENT LIMITED."

NOTE: based on past ports it's possible British crew are on board...

UPDATE 2:17 PM EDT --

It's official the Automated Information System (AIS) signal stopped updating...

UPDATE 2:21 PM EDT --

The video below shows the radar tracking route of this vessel as it was seized:

GREAT PROVOCATION

To give readers a sense of how big a deal this is, consider the following:

This is a very expensive ship that is 1 year old, almost just out of dry-dock.

The ship is British and it carries up to 30,000 Tons.

If this ship was full of Brent Crude Oil (I am not sure if it is) but it would be worth:

$13,286,400 or roughly 13 million at 64 dollars a barrel.

The ship itself is probably worth $35-50 million itself. Not to mention the crew's lives.

UPDATE 2:37 PM EDT --

The British are already calling this "An act of Piracy."

From a British Intelligence source: " the UK-flagged product tanker STENA IMPERO was forced to move into Iranian waters while transiting Strait of Hormuz en route to Al Jubayl Saudi Arabia, Persian Gulf. Tanker turned hard a starboard at around 1527 UTC Jul 19, and moved straight into Iranian waters, as of 1620 UTC tanker continued sailing in Iranian waters, south of Bandar Abbas, at some 13.5 knots speed.
It does look like a hijack on high seas, and if it is so, it’s an act of piracy, absolutely unlawful seizure of a foreign tanker in international waters, by a rogue State military."

UPDATE 2:47 PM EDT --

Sources confirm there is now a Cabinet Office Briefing Room "A" (COBRA) meeting taking place with the British Prime Minister and Military officers.

British Foreign Secretary warns Iran of dire consequences if British tanker is not released

Follow-up . . .

6:12 PM EDT - - 30 minutes into the UK Ministerial COBRA meeting, appears to still be ongoing.

UPDATE 8:27 PM EDT --

Britain's foreign minister: "London will respond with a calculated but hard/harsh response to seizing of tanker by Iran."

INCIDENTALLY, COBRA meetings are still ONGOING . . .

FROM U.S. CENTRAL COMMAND:

"U.S. Central Command is developing a multinational maritime effort, Operation Sentinel, to increase surveillance of and security in key waterways in the Middle East to ensure freedom of navigation in light of recent events in the Arabian Gulf region.

The goal of Operation Sentinel is to promote maritime stability, ensure safe passage, and de-escalate tensions in international waters throughout the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait (BAM) and the Gulf of Oman.

This maritime security framework will enable nations to provide escort to their flagged vessels while taking advantage of the cooperation of participating nations for coordination and enhanced maritime domain awareness and surveillance.

While the United States has committed to supporting this initiative, contributions and leadership from regional and international partners will be required to succeed.

U.S. officials continue to coordinate with allies and partners in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East on the details and capabilities required for Operation Sentinel to enable freedom of navigation in the region and protect vital shipping lanes."

UPDATE 8:35 PM EDT --

Britain advises all UK shipping to stay away from Strait of Hormuz for an "interim period." UK also says its response to seizure of British-flagged tanker by Iran will be "considered and robust". There will be "serious consequences" if situation is not resolved.

Panama is deregistering the MT Riah, which will give Iran salvage rights............

    https://sputniknews.com/world/201907211076308692-panama-withdraws-its-flag-from-tanker-mt-riah-for-deliberate-violation-of-intl-regulations---report/

There were British naval officers aboard the vessel when Iran seized her.

So it looks like Iran's claims against the vessel were accurate. Fancy that.

Britain's original 'arrest' (stealing, piracy) of an Iranian oil tanker may now not seem like such a smart idea. As if Iran doesn't have a very wide range of choices for British tankers to easily capture in return.

I'd suggest Britain's 'stern response' should be to just release the Iranian tanker, let it go on its way, and compensate Iran for the inconvenience.

This is a British problem. Not an American problem.

The Brits did indeed pirate a ship under orders from the USA to start this tit for tat.

I suspect once Boris "war hawk and kiss Trump's ass", Johnson becomes Prime Minister, the US will have at least one willing coalition member to fight another war for Israel.

Didn’t the UK seize an Iranian oil vessel headed for Syria? So how then is Iran’s seizure piracy? It’s tit-for-tat warfare on the high seas.

Based on this it would appear to be yet another false flag attempt... not that that has happened in the past.

For the Iranians to be this unbelievably brazen and aggressive, they must think they have a huge advantage, which will keep the US and UK from turning Iran into a smoking hole. What concerns me, is that they might have hidden nukes within one or more major cities in the US and perhaps the UK. If they do, they can simply vaporize a city if we attack them, and announce that if we don't cease, more cities will disappear. I can't think of any other scenario which would keep Iran from being utterly destroyed. A chemical or bio-weapon release wouldn't have the overwhelming and immediate shock effect they would need to stop them from being destroyed.

I hear Iran has technology that can take out US Navy ships. China has been helping them.

Plausible..However keep in mind US and UK Military and Exec Branches would view this as a first strike with threshold already been crossed..The US and UK will not hesitate to counter with a devastating retaliatory nuke strike that literally would wipe the Persians off the planet. Further to that US and or UK whoever would get hit would ABSOLUTELY FORCE NATO article 5 on the rest of the complacent countries..

DEFCON 3 means the fan is turned on and they’re planning for a shit storm.
Highest we’ve gone to is DEFCON 2 during the Cuban middle crisis.
DEFCON 1 means all out nuke war is imminent or currently under way....
So, This isn’t just rocks and garbage can lids anymore.....

If the U.S. doesn’t light the fuse, The Brits or Israel are likely to get things going.
Iran is like a little nippy dog, you can’t kick it and you can’t walk away...

For those who have never served our country in the armed forces
What Is DEFCON 3 Or "Round House" Warning Level?
DEFCON 3, also called "Round House" or "Yellow Alert" is an increase in alertness and military readiness level. With DEFCON 3 the air force is in a higher state of readiness level so that they can deploy and mobilize within 15 minutes time.

The alert color for DEFCON 3 is yellow. The meaning behind yellow alert, or round house is similar to that of a yellow "caution" sign. We are prepared, cautious and in a state of military readiness. Round house is a state of preparedness and a level of caution.

    Great consistent reporting.

Hal: The string ads are very distracting, and if you use the scroll wheel it takes forever. Even when you grab the slider and move it to the bottom, it takes 10+ seconds to get to the comment section. Have 2 levels of readership, one paid and one free. Determine the "paid" level and eliminate the ad string for them.

The adds are horrible. I enjoy Hal's reporting and signed up a couple of weeks ago thinking that they would be gone as a subscriber, not sure why I thought that but it seems like there are more now and the slower I scroll the more there are. Anyway around this or something to block with?? Maybe if the comments section had a quick link.

There are more men involved in bar fights in Sturgis than the British have in their army (72,000). That paper tiger blew away with the wind long ago.

Aaaw come on ........this is obviously a set up , bait for the sucker to take. . . . and .....it would APPEAR .....that SOME "sucker" or pirating appearing force took it and FOR sure whether Iran took it or NOT......Iran will get or is getting the blame......SOMEONE wants a war, and are willing to go to great expense to get it. Kinda appears the Brits are getting handed the trigger. Like "ONE" would think, since a media "relayed" threat was made by "Iran" .....YUP....."ONE" would think those ships going through that "narrow" spot of water , WOULD have a constant surveillance to protect their passage in INTERNATIONAL WATERS.

One might think that this vessel would be escorted or protected as it passed through the area since the Brits have captured and detained a Iranian tanker recently. Was it? The big question is what will be the response? Will they swap the tankers or is it possible they will launch an effort to take it and the crew back?
