The U.S. Air Force bombed a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery field position west of the Iraq border, the high commander reported shortly after the attack.
According to the claim, the U.S. bombed the Syrian Arab Army’s artillery field position inside the town of Al-Sukkariyeh, which is located just west of the strategic border-city of Albkamal shown on the map above.
As a result of the U.S. attack, at least two Syrian Army soldiers were badly wounded and their artillery gun was destroyed.
According to a military source in Damascus, the attack on the Syrian Arab Army’s artillery team was unprovoked and unexpected as neither party had any confrontation prior to the strike.
Furthermore, when asked if the attack could have been carried out by an ISIS drone, the military source denied it was conducted by an unmanned aircraft; however, he did not go into details.
Saturday night’s attack by the U.S. Coalition marks the first time this year that the latter has bombed a Syrian military site inside Syria.
